John is widely recognized as one of the top preferred share experts in Canada. Brendan Wood International ranked his departments #1 by for Quality of Research and #4 for Overall Coverage in Canada. His leadership has helped his firms rank in the top five by TSX trading in terms of value and blocks of preferred shares. Notably, John worked with OSFI and Faskens to create the Rate Reset Preferred Share and co-led the first issue of BNS Series 18 in March, 2008.

John has over 25 years of working with buy-side clients, sell-side dealers, CFOs and treasury and funding departments of public companies with respect to many structures of preferred shares in Canada. John has excellent relationships with major institutional accounts, the securities’ legal community, and with major corporate issuers he has worked with over the years. He has held leadership roles in sales, trading and research and has been an innovator in developing new preferred share products.

He has been a trustee with the Toronto Symphony Foundation, and a supporter of many of Canada’s leading arts organizations and for many years has been a director of the NATO Association of Canada. He is a former Vice-Chair of The National Youth Orchestra of Canada and served on its board for five years. John is also a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
